She completed her education at the Faculty of Foreign Languages at the University of Tehran. Her acting career began in 1350 (1971) with a minor role in the film "Bitaa," and the following year, she played the lead role in the movie "Ragbaar," directed by Bahram Beyzaie. She continued her collaboration with Beyzaie in films such as "Gav" (1967), becoming the first prominent female lead in his films. Parvaneh Ma'soumi gained recognition for her role in "Golhayeh Davoudi" (1984) and received the Crystal Simorgh for Best Actress at the Fajr Film Festival for her performances in "Jahiziehie Baraye Rabbab" (1987) and "Shokouh-e Zendegi" (1987). She was among the pioneering actresses who adapted to the compulsory hijab after the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran and defended it publicly. Later in her career, she became less active in cinema during the 1370s but became more involved in television productions. Notable works include her roles in "Nasser al-Din Shah, Actor-e Cinema" directed by Mohsen Makhmalbaf and "Masaf-e Rey" directed by Davood Mirbagheri. Parvaneh Ma'soumi passed away on November 27, 2023, in the village of Taher Goorab in Gilan province, Iran. Her last years were spent in Gilan, where she expressed her controversial views. She was hospitalized for several days before her death, and the media initially reported intestinal perforation and lung infection as the cause. However, her daughter later clarified that she suffered from rheumatoid arthritis and passed away due to a blood infection. Parvaneh Ma'soumi was buried in the family cemetery in Abotaleb Imamzadeh, Tehran, according to her wishes.
